Go down to the pedestrian street Raday. The street is located between the Kalvin and Boraros square, not very far from IBIS. Lots of restaurants with good food and reasonable prices.

Hi missyperu,

Raday street is not where I would head, as it is highly touristy and more focused on serving drinks to the twenty-something "need to be seen" locals - unless that is what you're looking for. The best answers to your question will depend upon what food variety you are looking for - with a better definition of "reasonable prices". Budapest is full of great restaurants - both on the low and high end. Share a bit more detail and you'll receive better input.

If you were staying at the Ibis Centrum, which is on Raday, you could find a lot of places that fit your description on and around the street (hidden among the tourist joints that Jeremy notes). But you are not and there's no need to head that way.

Near you: Kadar Etkezde for lunch, Koleves, Apa Cuka, Ket Szerecsen, Menza, perhaps Epitesz Pince might all bear a bit of looking into...the Castro Bisztro as well; and Cafe Bouchon surely for a slightly more upscale setting that fully meets the description (again, as Jeremy suggests, depending on what your budget is)

Thanks for all the replies. we had been down Raday street but this was not our type of eating places. Most peopel just seem to be drinking. we want good wholesome food, not extravagant type food but tasty simple, healthy type food. Love pastas, thin pizzas, good salads. I know these foods are not really Hungarian type food so I am happy to have Hungarian dishes but not into deep fried winer schnitzels or creamy rich dishes. Only drink a glass of wine and partner likes a beer or two so we have simple tastes but we are fussy eaters.
