Currency advice for travelling Hungary> Serbia> Bosnia&Herz

Hi all,

Me and a friend are heading to Budapest for 4 nights, then down to Belgrade for 3 nights, onto Sarajevo for 3 nights, Novi Sad for 2 nights then back to Budapest for 1 night before flying home.

We head out in 9 days, and are wondering if anyone could assist us regarding advice for currency needed for each country. Should we convert our money before we travel? Or can we use exchange offices in each country/ATMs?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Ben

Check with your bank for a Debit card to use at ATMs

Do a search on this (and the other relevant forums) for 'currency', this has been discussed many times before.

Your easiest way is to withdraw the local currency from ATMs on arrival. Hopefully your bank won't charge you too much to do this. And let your bank know before you leave that you will be using your card to withdraw money in these countries, and the dates you will be there, just in case their anti-fraud measures freeze your card on first use.

I think you should get a bit of cash in each currency before you travel, you'll get a really rubbish rate using an ATM. So long as you use a money belt and hotel safes you'll be fine.

You will get a far better rate in Bpest than if you buy before travelling: as I said, search the forum, there is plenty of good advice already posted.
