I'd allocate 1/2-3/4 day at least to the Castle Hill attractions. Would make sure to see the Fisherman's Bastion, St. Matthias and walk some of the area streets nearby. The Castle attractions like the Hungarian National Museum can take 2-3 hours to visit if you spend your time leisurely when going into museums.

Since you like the outdoors, I'd also try to spend a bit of time around Gellert Hill, which is a nice, leisurely hike with outstanding views of the river and Pest side of the river. Gellert Spa is a nice attraction even if just to see the Art Nouveau architecture, design and decor of the main entrance lobby.

There are some nice bridge crossings you use to walk to the Pest side of the city as well. Chain Bridge is more centrally located but we actually like Liberty Bridge more due to the lovely architecture and green colour of the bridge structure. You can then see the fine Central Market Hall and walk up the Pedestrian street Vaci Utca until you find other attractions on the Pest side of the city you are interested in.

Hope this is useful and that you enjoy Budapest.
