When will you be visiting? Dates can hugely impact comp upgrades.

No sure about the best time to upgrade to a riverside room (ie when booking or on arrival) but it is WELL WORTH IT!

I assume that upgrade when booking would be surer.

Hi mannysafc,

My thought is to book the upgrade. One of the best views in the city is from the riverfront, river-facing rooms. While you might not spend a ton of time in your room, being able to enjoy the view before grabbing some sleep and upon waking up with be a nice memory. The Chain Bridge, Palace, Fisherman's Bastion, St. Matthias, Gellert Hill, etc. will likely all be within view - and a great one at that.

The riverfront views are a protected UNESCO sight for a reason. Come and enjoy them! http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/400

But Note....if you plan in staying across the IC group of properties, you can join the Ambassador club for something like $200 annually - that promise automatic upgrades....not whether that is to a river facing room needs to be sorted.

Best,

Jeremy

As a recent guest at the InterContinental Budapest, we strongly recommend another hotel. Their hotel security is substandard by international standards and their remedial actions are non existent. We narrowly escaped being abducted from their hotel lobby by a taxi scam and we are presently dealing with the Budapest police on this matter.
