Where to buy trip to Szentendre

We are planning to be in Martfu south of Budapest and would like to take a day trip to Szentendre. Could anyone tell us, how long the journey is and how it is best to be arranged. Very little information in English around.

You can search train timetables from Martfu to Budapest at http://elvira.mav-start.hu. It looks like there are train services, taking just over 2 hours to Budapest Nyugati Station. From Nyugati, you take either Tram 4 or 6 to the Margit Hid stop and walk underground to the Margit Hid HEV Station (suburban rail) where you take the train to Szentendre. All local transport details can be found at this website - http://www.bkv.hu/en/.

I imagine this will take well over 3 hours one way.

I have no idea about bus services and if this will be quicker. Perhaps you should consider renting a car for your stay in Hungary as Martfu seems poorly connected by public transport.
