Will be in Kaunus from27/5/12 to 3/6/12 .We are a couple in our mid forties does anyone who has been recently have any suggestions on things to do?We have been searching the internet but to be honest there doesn't seem much there. So maybe some good pubs for the evenings and things to do during the day.Any comments would be really helpful.

Thanks

Christ's resurrection church is pretty interesting..

The city center is okay for a walk.. there is a decent sized mall (Akropolis)..

AJ Chocolate Cake is pretty good and worth a stop.. given the amount of days you have it might be worth to go to Vilnius.

What do you like doing?

Akropolis is like Trafford Centre but smaller but with all the designer shops, pull & bear etc

Vinius is a good day out by train

Museums are closed Mondays, we missed them as we left them for our last day which you guessed it was Monday

You can try to reach Rumsiskes - open air traditional folk museum. you should dedicate at least half day for it.

The usual way to reach it is by bus. and would take 40- 60 min one way. The other way is to go by ferry, but I'm not sure how long it takes.

Then in the evening you can have a reast in local kaunas bars. :)

we have just come back from a 4 day trip to Kaunas and had a great time, spent one day in vilnius, went there by train, about £4 each way, took an hour an a half getting there and took the fast train back, one hour. Kaunas is lovely, castle, churches, botanical garden, shops, great atmosphere on a night, food and drink cheap. Pick up a Kaunas in your Pocket guide at the airport, it has all the major things to do. Museums are cheap, about a £1 entrance fee, we visited the Pharmacy Museum, Devils Museum,Natural History Museum, were all interesting. Lovely walks on an evening down by the river, you will have a great time.
