Hello, we'll be spending a day in Riga and have signed up for the walking tour. We still have a few hours before catching a bus to Vilnius. As the walking tour starts at St. Peter's Church, is there any supermarket nearby? Also, we'd like to buy some snacks for the 4 hours bus and I'd appreciate if someone can share some local snacks like chocolates, cookies, or anything unique to Riga :) TIA.

There is many kiosks around in the streets, but cheapest

option must be Rimi supermarket in the Galerija Centrs

5 minutes walk from the church. (Kaleju/Teatra iela)

In Rimi you can get salads from deli, and small pastry with bacon, or sweet pastry, chips, Latvian bread croutons. There are also cafes inside the Galerija Centers. Stockmanns offers many Latvian snacks and candies, like latvian bread and dry fruits chips.

I was in Rimi supermarket in September, and their bakery department looked fabulous! Lots of packaged cookies, crackers etc as well as drinks.

"Sierins" ....basically curd in chocolate. Doesn't exist in the US and very tasty and cheap. Look for the brands by Karums and so on in the fridges of Rimi or Stockmann for example.

Karums is perishable. Although I love them to death.
