Taxi from Bus station to hotel.

I will arrive in Riga by bus. Is it safe to get a taxi from the bus station. Any scams I should be aware of? I need to get to Edvards Hotel. How much will a taxi be? Will I need local currency? I will only have euros.

I am not sure if those taxis are reliable - I can`t say anything against as I haven`t tried them, but I really do not like them by the look :) - very constructive, I know. For taxi I usually call Baltic Taxi. This is not an advertisement, I do use them when I need to and have not been disappointed.

If you do not have much of a luggage and enjoy to walk - I suggest you to have a walk - it would take some 20-30 minutes perhaps, but you would see something of the city center already. You should be extra careful near the bus station and by going through underground tunnel as there are gathering different kind of people around and in those places. Otherwise it is safe to walk through the city center, though some caution is always suggested (as in most places in the world).

As for the public transportation... in this case I think you would not gain much time. Maybe somebody has another opinion.

You need Lats (LVL) to be able to pay in cash.

I agree with ivijunior that the bus station is not best place to

catch a taxi. The normal risk will be overprice and at night time it

could even be robbery (very few examples). Also taxi from other places

around in Riga can lead to scam - stick to the Red Cab or Baltic Taxi

to be safe.

You can walk to the hotel in apx. 15 min. or just 2 min. to the Forum

cinema at the main road around the Old Town and try catch a safe

taxi there.

Last option could be the Air Baltic shuttle bus (or taxi) from airport if

your bus have a stop there - the shuttle has stop at Radisson hotel

just beside Edvards (and it takes EUR...)

No EUR or cards in taxi, but many ATM in Riga.
