Suggestions for somewhere to stop

We are planning a trip next year and will be stopping a couple of nights in Chattanooga before heading over to Memphis. Is there somwhere of interest to see in Alabama. We will be travelling through Huntsville and then on highway 72 to Memphis. Any nice historic towns or plantations or state parks.

Visit the U. S. Space and Rocket Center at Huntsville. Go to Big Bob Gibson's for good BBQ. My youngest son lives in Huntsville Stop by historic Shiloah Battlefield when you go through Corinth, MS.

Big Bob Gibson's @ 1715 6th Ave. SE, Decatur, AL 256 - 350 - 6969.

Joe Wheeler State Park and Wildlife Refuge are in Rogersville on Hwy 72. In Florence/Muscle Shoals, you can visit the home and museum of Helen Keller. There is also the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. Hopefully you will have a chance to stay a couple of days to enjoy some of our beautiful state.

How long between Chattanooga & Memphis? Are you staying overnight?

In addition to the above suggestions...

Between Chattanooga & Huntsville, if you are into hiking & outdoors you can visit the Walls of Jericho park. It is GEORGEOUS, google photos of it. This is in Jackson County, AL, IMO the prettiest part of the state.

If you dont have time, the drive from CHA to HSV is very scenic.

IN Huntsville you can hike in Monte Sano State park.

ALSO in Huntsville, don't miss the Southside Square downtown ( very historical) and Harrison Brothers Hardware. This place is AWESOME, full of stories, and fun. Lunch & cofffee nearby, walkable, pretty, and not too time consuming.

Going West on 72, in Athens,AL if you are interested in Western Wear, Preston's is some GREAT shopping, and their prices are the best I have found, including the internet. VERY friendly, huge selection of exotic AND affordable boots.

www.cowboykicks.com (their website doesn't even represent 20% of what is in the store.) I live about 100 miles away, and shop here often!

You have good suggestions for the TN River & Shoals area.

Have a good trip!

Thank you so muchfor the suggestions.

Miller - I am going to start saving now! Those shops look amazing as does the Walls of Jericho.

The trip is still very much in the early planning stage at the moment but am trying to avoid any long drives but am happy to explore enroute. We had though of stopping in Florence as it is roughly half way between Chattanooga and Memphis. Is this a good place to stop or any other suggestions.
