For Those Who Travel With American Airline Mileage Ticket...

Recently just figure out that American Airline ends the free stopovers on 'awards' traveler. Before I can travel from Dallas to Anchorage for 2 weeks, then fly to King Salmon (Katmai) for the bear viewing few days, then fly back to Dallas for only 25,000 miles. But under the new system it will cost extra 12,500 miles since AA will view these as 3 one way route. So for the party of 2, the new system will cost 75,000 miles instead of 50,000 miles which means, 1 free ticket GONE. :-( Just FYI for the traveler who use American Airline free miles...

Appreciate the news, Ryan. And I am so sorry to hear it. We've used the stopover amenity numerous times. Thanks for the post.

Hi Nancy, I do wish no other airline will follow what the AA done on the mileage program. But for somehow airline always follow one another. Just take the "free stopover" advantage ASAP when still available... :-)
