ice trek versus ice climb

Has anyone done the ice climb on Matanuska Glacier? I am trying to decide if we should do the trek or the climb.

Not sure if this will help. I did an ice climb on Root Glacier in Wrangell-St.Elias. It was one of the highlights of that AK vacation. You do have to do a little hiking probably to get to your climbing spot---which will be very informative. If you like a little adventure and the chance to do something you will probably never get to do again, give it a try. I'm by far someone who would ever try or even think that I could do something like that, but I'm sure the guides can gear it towards your skill and comfort level. You'll have fun out on the glacier either way.
