are you allowed to stay just off the road in Alaska or do you need to stay in an rv park/campground

You can pull over almost anywhere. Just make sure it's not private property (people have been known to camp on people's driveways, lol).

Pat, there are quite a few pull outs expressly designed for RV's you will see them marked along the highways......don't know your itinerary, but there are lots of these between Glenallen and Tok......some with nice views of lakes or overlooking fish-able rivers......

If it's not private property, and not signed "No overnight parking", make yourselves comfortable!

I'd also recommend ordering a copy of the The Milepost (www.TheMilepost.com). It has a detailed run down of all the roads in Alaska and points out where there are large pullouts.

Pat,

Would you grab my brother & his wife on your way up? He shouldn't be to far away from you (in Tsawwassen) and he can drive a long time so you guys can sight-see.
