Denali Highway in a rented RV?

I've found posts in previous years giving varying reports on the condition of the Denali Highway, but the most recent was in 2009. I'm wondering how big of a risk it would be to drive the highway this summer (August) in our rental RV.

The company doesn't prohibit it, but if there is any damage we would be responsible. It sounds like such an amazing drive, and we really don't want to miss out on getting off the beaten path, but don't want to take this on if the risk level is really high for damage to the vehicle.

Any opinions?

Thank you!

We did a small portion of it in 2010, and got a broken windshield from someone driving WAAYYY too fast in the opposite direction. We did the whole trip in 2012, and loved every minute of it. We had insurance to pay for the windshield, but I would not hesitate to do it again even if it meant paying for a windshield!
