Klondike TV series starting Monday

As a fan of Alaska, I thought this may be an interesting series about the gold rush in Alaska. It starts Monday on the Discovery Channel at 8 eastern/9 central time.

Historically it began in Alaska with many over the Chilccot Trail (very good book). BTW Appleton colder than Alaska).. Presently in Neenah but go home tomorrow.

Klondike...

fiveneedlepine is correct that the Klondike is in the Yukon and not Alaska. It's called the Klondike because of the Klondike river. The Klondike river lies solely within Canada. It empties into the Yukon at Dawson City and it's origins are in the mountains of YT eastward.

The show will not be about the gold rush in Alaska. It will be about the gold rush in the Yukon (Dawson City) and is based on the book Gold Diggers: Striking It Rich in the Klondike by British/Cdn author Charlotte Gray.

I do not have any doubt Alaska's significance to the Klondike will be shown as the brutal journies to the gold field were mostly started in Dyea and Skagway.

AK weather...

Still too warm up here (Anchorage). We got down to 12F yesterday; but the forecast has temperature rising to above freezing the rest of the week with rain a possibility.

von - got home late yesterday afternoon. Wife did not want to drive down as high winds on Turnagain Arm (she won't let me drive) and I insisted we go. Driving rain and winds were there and held up just south of Girdwood for Alaska style avalanch control with canon fire. Couldn't see it but heard it. Sun came out when we reached Soldotna and drove into sun rest of way. Most of snow is gone in Homer but we still have it here. Warmer than Wisconsin and we enjoyed your Door Peninsula.

This is crap TV. Bad acting, bad sound, bad dialogue, historically inaccurate, and filmed in Alberta.
