Recommended books for adults

Hi, I am just wondering if there are any updates to this thread (I hope I have linked it correctly) to recent publications by Alaskan authors? I am about to place an order with Amazon for some pre-holiday reading! Thanks

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a great bookshop in Anchorage instead? Preferably one that has a section focusing on Alaskan authors? Thanks

We have a Barnes & Noble, but I would recommend something local - I like Title Wave Books - they have new and used books. They probably have more than just about anyone - they are located on Northern Lights Blvd, near REI sporting goods. http://www.wavebooks.com/

If you are driving I like The Book Shelf in Eagle River. It is about 15 miles north of Anchorage on the Old Glenn Highway.

The previously mentioned Title Wave Books would be my recommendation. It's in a great strip mall that includes REI (outdoor retailer), Middle Way Cafe (great food, coffee, & tea), and a few other interesting shops.

See: http://goo.gl/maps/4jEIm (Title Wave to right (west), REI and Middle Way to left (east))

KJR, whenever I travel I keep a look out for used book stores.......I have a favorite over in Juneau that is run by the Friends of the Library.....they often have books by Alaskan authors.......

You might want to add anything by Nick Jans to your list.....he is very intuitive to the flora/fauna

Also our own Heather Lende, who is releasing her third book shortly.....she rights humorous, heartful stories of Haines....."If you Lived here I would know your Name"......"Take Good Care of the Garden and the Dogs"...don't know the name of the third one.....

Another humorous one that I enjoyed was "Not a Real Alaskan Man" by Doug Fine.......

Title Wave looks to be reasonably close to where we are staying ao it will be our first stop in Anchorage. Thanks for the suggestions Mombear! I will check out the authors you have recommended :)
