We will be in Denali for two full days in about two weeks. We are definitely taking a bus to Wonder Lake one day but we're up in the air for our next day. We are camping at Savage River campground. Half our group feels there are plenty of hikes and things to see starting from the campground. From the research I've done and what I've read, I gather the only way to really see the park is by bus trips. Our goal is to see wildlife, amazing scenery and enjoy some moderate length hikes (3-6 miles). My biggest concern is that you don't get very far into the park setting out to hike from Savage River campground and if you wanted to, you'd be walking quite a ways. Am I wrong? Can people weigh in with their thoughts please?
