Good dining in NE Arizona/Four Corners area?

My wife and I will be travelling in the area and would appreciate any suggestions. She is a vegetarian so vegetarian-friendly is a must. Good local/regional cuisine preferred. Thank you for any replies.

You'll find a few places in the larger towns, especially Durango, Farmington and Cortez. On the Navajo Nation though, it's going to be very, very limited. The restaurant options there, even for meat eaters, is pretty dismal.

The truth is that you're not going to find any 'good dining' in the 4 corners region. Larger towns like Durango, Cortez and Farmington will have more options, but keep your expectations low. In places like Mexican hat, Bluff, Kayenta, and other places on the reservation, the choices are quite basic. Page will be a little better, but don't expect anything close to fine dining.

I'm am by no means making fun of you, but it's almost comical to ask about good dining in Four Corners area. You would be lucky to find much of anything, let alone vegetarian. Most of the area in Indian Reservation and you more or less have to take what you can get and there are not many choices. It's adequate, but I wouldn't call it "good dining." You will understand a lot better when you actually get to the area.

Ouch, does that mean no Michelin stars? I didn't think the question was an oxymoronic construct. My expectations are suitably lowered. Thank you.

Between Canyon de Chelly and Mesa Verde, we ended up staying in Cortez, CO at the Holiday Inn Express, which was clean and modern, and had good features (gym, pool, laundry) and a nice staff. Our room featured a red heart-shaped hot tub that looked like a prop from a '70s adult movie. As usual the free breakfast flunked the coffee test, which is too bad for an establishment that does so many things right. Why can't any of these places make a decent pot of strong coffee? We went to the Main St. Brewery for dinner. As a craft brew aficionado, I give them a gentleman's C for effort. The food was also middling grade. Too bad. They are nice people and I hope they get their act together. However, the Spruce Coffee Shop gets high praise for coffee, food, atmosphere, and people. In terms of attractions, Mesa Verde scored much higher with us than Canyon de Chelly.
