Zion to South Rim route

Simple question, which route is more scenic. Leaving Springdale as early after breakfast. Staying at Bright Angel.

Page and Horseshoe, or the 89a?

They are both scenic. Really depends on what you want to do or see.

Going thru Page on 89 you can see the lake, the dam, Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.

Going 89 Alt, you climb up into the pine trees and you can see Le Fevre Overlook, Jacob Lake, Lees Ferry to see the Colorado Riverup close and Navajo Bridge.

Won't have time for antelope canyon, but would see horseshoe. I have seen the Dam before but don't recall it... is that a sign it's not that impressive?

There is no wrong answer. Both drives are incredibly scenic. Take 89 via the dam and Page if you want to do the Horseshoe Bend Overlook Hike. Allow a good hour for the stop and walk.

If you don't recall the dam at Glen Canyon, it's a sign that you weren't paying attention, or you were distracted by the other awesome views. It is very impressive.

Haha, don't doubt my attention span Redrox!

I just recall more impressive natural views on a long roadtrip. I will be crossing the Hoover also later on so it may be the other route that takes my fancy.

Like the look of 89a now I've checked some inches

If you have not seen Horseshoe Bend before I'd really go for that - as well as driving along Lake Powell - well, well worth it - but yes, both routes are basically equally scenic

Horseshoe looks good, but the drive down 89a looks different.
