Hotel for first night

We are arriving about 5pm into Phoenix and the next day travelling to Winslow on AZ87. We would like to get out of Phoenix and stay on the way to Winslow, say about an hour from the airport, so we can get a good start in the morning. Any suggestions?

Well, it is about 90 minutes away, but you could drive up 87 to Payson and stay overnight there.

Hi MikePin - yes we thought of that but it is a bit too far as we will have had such a long flight, really thought more of a hotel outside of Phoenix but which would be getting us on the road to Payson so we don't have to drive through Phoenix in the morning.

Then one of the hotels in Fountain Hills would work. Just outside the metro area. There is a Comfort Inn just off the highway.

There is a Radisson at the Ft McDowell Casino right on Hwy 87 Beeline Highway on the east of Fountain Hills.
