Seligman To Kingman

When we leave Grand Canyon and head to Vegas we would like to stop along Rt 66- Seligman/Kingman. If we detour off 40 and drive Rt66 from Seligman to Kingman, how much extra time will we use? Is it worth it? Or should we just stay on 40 and stop at each destination individually? We already have a 5 hour drive and dont want to detour if its too long. Thanks

Google Maps says Seligman to Kingman via I-40 is 1 hour 5 minutes, or via AZ66 it's 1 hour 30 minutes. You'd need to add a bit to those times to make them realistic, plus of course any stops you might make on AZ66, and being a two-lane road there's more risk of a possible delay behind a slow vehicle on AZ66. If it helps you decide, here's a video of AZ66 (eastbound):

Once your off the I-40 in Seligman ... your half way to Kingman ... Smell the flowers and savor the historic, scenic & truckless "old 66" ... carracar

Must stops are in Seligman and Hackberry Jada. R66 for that stretch is just another 65mph good road. Usually there's little traffic on that stretch. There are more places for R66 like a bridge and an old schoolhouse though and many people stop for the "Valentine" roadsign.
