Columbus day is not an observed holiday by schools, and as far as I know there are no others in October. (Well, Halloween, of course, but not observed either, except maybe with a costume party.)

Canadian Thanksgiving, however, is the same day as Columbus Day, this year, as you undoubtedly know. :~)

There would be no reason on Columbus Day for it to be crowded. The summer season is over and it is a Monday.

Have a happy Thanksgiving....:~)

We were in Disneyland the Mon. before Thanksgiving one year and the crowds were very minimal, it was perfect! :)

Some districts have in service days in October (days teachers work - but kids are off). In our district they tend to "by chance" fall on Yom Kipper (which when we went a few years back - the park was packed) & Roshashana (sorry about the spelling). Also - many AZ school districts and year round schools have a week or two off in October - but this is minimal compared the major holidays.
