Christmas Eve Lunch: Santa Barbara, Ventura or....?

Howdy ho California, greetings from Arizona! My partner, self and 12 YO stepson will be travelling from Santa Maria to Simi Valley on Christmas Eve Day. We were looking for a place to join up with some other family members approximately midway between the two towns for lunch or an early dinner.

Any suggestions on towns and/or restaurants that would be open on Christmas Eve Day would be most appreciated!

Thanks a bunch in advance.

If you like Italian food, Olie e Limone is very good for dinner. The SB Shellfish Co. on Stearn's Wharf is a casual place and is open for lunch and dinner, very good lobster dinners here at reasonable prices. Merry Christmas! :)

Casual or nice? What's your budget? For what it's worth, here's our favorite in Santa Barbara...

Stella Mare's ( http://www.stellamares.com/ ) Just a block off the freeway. Not sure about their Christmas Eve hours. You'd have to call and ask.

We never miss going to La Super Rica Taqueria on Milpas St.for lunch, when we are in Santa Barbara. Casual outdoor family restaurant. Looking forward to going there on the way up from LA in a couple weeks.

I'm partial to Santa Barbara...

Seems like you'd want something more special than Super Rica for a Christmas Eve get together. Super Rica has great food, but lacks atmosphere. I suggest the following local (non-chain) restaurants for casual, mid-range great food, worthy of a Christmas Eve get-together, but you'll have to check if they will be open, and make res if you're going to storm the place!

Jane, Jill's Place, Palace Grill, a second on Stella Mare's, Brophy Bro's, Frog Bar & Grill, Jade, Hitching Post (in Buellton), Boathouse (-more for the location than the food, but maybe it has improved.)

How about Eric Ericsson (http://www.ericericssons.com/) on the Pier in Ventura. Great views of the ocean and they can handle larger parties.
