Baseball Season starts this week

Thursday and Friday are the opening days at Baseball Parks around California and the country. For folks who are visiting us between now and October and possibly early November, do try and find some time to watch America's National Pastime. The games are about 3 hours on an average and you should go an hour and a half or so before to check out team practice, walk around the park and find the best food and beer.

The San Diego Padres, The LA Angels of Anaheim, The LA Dodgers in Southern California and the Oakland A's and San Francisco Giants in the SF Bay Area are starting their 162 games this week. The A's had their season opener in Japan this past week.

You can look at http:// mlb.com and then check out the team calendars to experience the game at a Ballpark near you. Tickets are available on their website or at the official ticket brokers such as stubhub.com

Here's wishing the very best to all the teams in CA and hoping we have a CA team (or two ) in the World Series.

Play Ball!!

One more thing to add to Belomisers post.....

Before asking about which seats to get each individual team has a schematic drawing of the stadium in which you can click on a seat and see the actual view you would get.

Asking a question like "which is the best seat?" is a very subjective question in which there is no correct answer. A question like "I have chosen between seat XXX and seat YYY, which of those 2 has more sun exposure, or which is better for maybe getting a foul ball?"

Another comment, many games have a special incentive to atttend, such as a free gift, like a cap, a blanket, or other souviener. Another popular one is Fireworks after the game on selected nights. Go to the official team schedule, and there is an small astrick at the bottom of the specific date on the schedule to let you know the promotion for that night, if any.

By the way, Go Angels and Go Padres! :D

And what should one eat at the ballpark.? That could be as controversial as where to sit . Here is one such list of food at the various parks

How sad that the choices for Dodger Stadium only include a Dodger Dog, as written in that article. Want something different?? Eat before you get to the park. Hopefully the new owners have a grand scheme which includes a revamped Dodger culinary experience.

Also, it looks like almost half of the MLB fields are missing from that article. Best of the CA stadium fare? I would choose SF then Anaheim.

Besides the five major league teams mentioned in the first post, there are minor league teams throughout Northern and Southern California. These minor league games are fun to attend. You get to sit much closer to the players, the food is not bad, and the seats are cheap. You can find AAA teams and there is a California league at the A level in many smaller cities throughout the state.

See a future star play. You can say: I remember seeing him play......
