1week trip from christmasto new yr

I have vacation from 12/25/12 to 1/1/13 for 1wk.

need to be back at work 1/2/13

want to take california trip.

2 famillies- 4 adults , 3 kids-5 &10yrs.

like to include Death valley, Yosemite, Redwood/sequoia if possible.

we travel from Austin .

welcome advise on road trip, lodging, food.

Yosemite will likely be snowy, and you can't get there from the south (from Death Valley), in the winter as the road closes. One week is not enough time to do all that you list.

Agree with above; way to many miles.

I'd choice 1 of 2 given time of year:

LA & San Diego: Warm(er) & lots to do.


SF & North coast (redwoods): more nature, pretty country but cooler & less for kids to do.

We are doing a one week trip to California over the same time period. We will be visiting Disneyland. If you do Disney I suggest you stay on site as it is worth the perks. Also recommend you go south to San Diego as there is lots to do and is a perfect place to enjoy the holidays.
