Planning a trip to Southern Cal for next April/May, for hubby and I..late 50's. Lots to do, I know and not sure if I am overplanning and in what order to do stuff!
We def. want to do San Diego, for the zoo and the harbor tour,GasLamp, Olde Town and see LaJolla, Mission and Pacific beaches.
I want to go to Hollywood/Beverly HIlls, even though he is NOT interested in a Graumans or star tour (but I am!). Would LOVE to spend just 1 night in an old FANCY hotel...the BelAir or the Beverly Hilton, see the sign and Griffith observatory.A stop at Venice/Muscle beach is a definite. Love the idea of the Crystal Pier roooms in Mission Beach. He wants to see the baseball/football stadiums that we can get to, and probably a couple of baseball games.
Would then like to hit Palm Springs. Not really sure why...just looks awesome and want to say I've been there once! driving to there would like to stop at the Salton Sea and maybe see some of Joshua tree or Death valley.
Then we are drving to Vegas for at least 2 nights and flying back to Boston from there. I really wanted to rent a condo or something rather than staying at different hotels all the time, living out of a suitcase and save SOME money!! Dont want to miss the Best of Southern Cal but dont want to waste time on stuff you experts think are crazy!!
Ive been to San Diego before, saw a movie premiere at Graumans, star tour and had luch at Mels diner. Throughly enjoyed it all and want to show him the best of the place. He is a gambler, and he was thinking of staying at Harrahs Rincon, but that seems like its way out of the way for all the traveling we want do. Interested in a Camp Pendelton tour, are they available still? What about The naval base at coronado?? Athough, I did see the ships on the harbor tour, even the Mercy. Very Inspiring
I find that the almost best part of a vacation, is the planning and the anticipation....Im like an 8 year old waiting for Santa!! Although a VERY long way away from 8!!
Thanks for any hints, tips and ideas you can send my way!!
