it is possible to drive through all the places but not possible to see all those places. Have a look at the top questions on the right side of this forum for info on Ca and map it out in maps.google.com
Most would suggest 3-4 days in LA, SD, SF but if you want to spend less time, sure you can. Without knowing your likes and dislikes and what you want to do and see it is hard to suggest a plan. You may have 7 full days given day 1 and day 9 may be travel. I would do just SoCal LA, OC, SD in the 7 days.
But if you are into just driving, by all means, map it out and you have 5 places in Nine days and you can rush through them and see them through the window of a car - I hope you will be renting one
Are you okay with just getting a quick peek, or do you want to actually experience the destination? Nine days is only 8 nights.
If you want to be realistic, try LAX - San Diego (3 nights) - L.A. (3 n) - Santa Barbara (2 n) - LAX Or try SFO - SF (3 n) - Napa (2 n) - Cambria (1 n) - Monterey / Carmel (2 n) - SFO
Your itinerary may be tough to build with the Labor Day holiday weekend. Many places are booked up or will be very busy. Can you travel a week later?

<<Is this possible in this amount of time?>>
Only if you have mastered time travel.
I agree with K'smom. Scale back or add time. It's not only 650 miles but also has some of the worst traffic in the US (the bit around LA and heading to SD). It also has some of the most stunning coastline in the world (between Cambria and Monterey), but this is 35MPH territory and winding road.
Not to mention some wonderful attractions all up and down the coast -- so unless you're happy blowing through, checking off places you've been without really seeing them -- take a little time to smell the roses.
