LA City Centre Hotel

Have two nights in LA as part of our 3 month US tour.

Our plan is to fly in, go to a City centre hotel, then spend the next two days sightseeing before returning to the airport to hire the car.

Can anyone recommend a good city centre hotel or are we best to go somewhere like Universal and metro in or even stay at the airport?

If we like LA, we have 4 extra days at the end of the trip so we can always return.

Start by going to the LA Forums (you posted in the general California forum) and read the FAQs on Where to Stay. There is no city center here, LA is a series of neighborhoods, each with its own center. There is no magic central place to stay that is close to all sights, either. It will depend on your budget per night and if you'll have a car.

Never stay near the airport, and Universal is not close to much except Universal.

Our 'downtown' is actually near the eastern end of our massive city so it's not central to much of anything. The best way to pick a hotel is to decide upon your itinerary first, then select the most convenient neighborhood to those attractions, then select a hotel.
