Please help,

Anyone please give me ideas I am planning to visit california for the first time with my hubby and going on vacation for the first time without kids.

We planning on going in February arriving Sunday morning and leaving Thursday night!

I know I cant see everything at once so thinking of staying one night and 2 days in San Diego, than drive down to LA but the question is what to do next, I was also thinking of Palm Springs.

My husband loves scenery (me too) but I love action too, so we planning to combine both! He loves walking hicking and biking these kind of stuff!

Need ideas please help!

Also i need hotel ideas in San diego maybe hilton San Diego and spa resort, but not sure Which erea should i not take?

Hmmm, did you buy tickets to San Diego already? I live here. It is great, but I don't know if I'd pick it for a romantic getaway. I'd pick napa for wine tasting, and possibly San Francisco, maybe even Tahoe.

But if San Diego is your preferred destination, of course I'd pick the beach towns of Coronado or La Jolla, where you can stay in a hotel and walk to beaches and restaurant. In LJ consider La Valencia, LJ shores hotel, or LJ Beach and Tennis (these are higher budget). Coronado, maybe the hotel del.

For LA I'd stay near the beach in Santa Monica. For Palm Desert, I like La Quinta resort, make your resrvations at Morgans before you go.

Hope that helps. But again, my romantic California getaway is in Napa :)

Arriving Sunday and leaving Thursday? Find one place and stick to it. Traffic in and around California cities can be very congested, even in February, so trying to race around to 3 different destinations in a short period of time wouldn't be my recommendation.

The only warm weather you'll find would be in the desert. SD and LA, while warmer than NY, won't be beach weather in February. Even the desert won't be hot; pleasant during the day and quite cool at night.

What's your idea of "action?" Night clubs? Casinos? Theater? Fine Dining?

Ann: Sounds like you need to do some planning. First figure out where in California(for sure)you want to visit. Take some time to read the "Top questions about California" on the right side of this page. Then jot down an itinerary. Lastly, if you wish help in fine tuning your itinerary, post it with specific questions. Also, subjective questions with "Best", "Worth It" can not be answered. Have fun with your planning and Happy New Year. Chuck.

Wow ! Someone who lives here in San Diego and doesn't think it is a romantic place?

Annimieke-You have barely 5 days. I don't think it is romantic to change hotels and drive around to so many different spots. I'd pick one nice hotel and stay there doing little sightseeing trips from that hotel. San Diego has plenty of scenic spots to walk/bike and hike. IF you tell us your budget for hotel we can help you better.

<<I thought san diego for 5 days is alot!!>>

Keep in mind that travel days are not full days. Even if you arrive in the morning it will have meant that you got up very early in the morning to make your flight. And for the rest of the day your body clock will be on EST. And for the day you leave you will have to spend a few hours to turn in the car, check bags and go through security.

I generally think it's much better to consider how many FULL days you have.

I think San Diego is a perfectly fine, romantic place to visit. As others have said, I'd stick to one hotel and just do trips from that hotel.
