LV to SF via Yosemite and Napa in 4 days

We are a family of 4 from Sydney and will be in the US from Mid-September until Mid October. The first part of our trip will be on the East Coast but we then fly to Phoenix to to do the Southern end of Grand Canyon, and then on to LV. We then were wanting to drive through to SF via Yosemite and Napa Valley, taking 4 days (3 nights). Which would be the most scenic route (would the route over the Tioga Pass take too long ). ? Where would you suggest we stop over the 3 nights?

The route via Tioga Pass is the fast route!

Lone Pine or Bishop - Yosemite Valley - Napa ---- those are your 3 nights. Not enough time in Yosemite, but that's what you have to do if you're insisting on Napa.

Is San Francisco the last stop on your trip?

I ask because Napa is not the only wine region in California and if you go south from San Francisco afterwards you'll pass several other places. If you skip Napa then you'd have time to maybe spend 1 night in/near Yosemite so you could take some time to explore there.

Thanks for the comments.

No SF is not the end of the trip. Afterwards we are heading down the PCH taking 3-4 days (stopping around Monterey/Carmel, Cambria area, and Santa Barbara) and may have time to do wineries down there. Would you recommend that over Napa?

I would recommend that over Napa if it gives you some time in San Francisco. How much time had you planned on SF?

Plan is 10 days, 9 nights from leaving LV to arriving in LA. Most likely now 3 nights on way to SF via Yosemite, 3 nights in SF and 3 nights on PCH.

That sounds good to me. Somebody will come along and help with recs for wine tasting on your way to LA.

You'll find less crowded wine tasting options in Carmel Valley, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo (Edna Valley), Santa Ynez/Los Olivos as you make your way down the coast.

Monterey 1 night:Carmel Valley

Cambria: Paso Robles

SLO or Pismo Beach: Edna Valley

(1 night in either Cambria, SLO or Pismo)

Santa Barbara 1 night: Los Olivos/Santa Ynez en route
