Los Angeles to San Francisco - 4 days (Sunday to Thursday)

Can anyone advise on possible itineraries to get from LA to San Francisco?

We would like to spend a day or two in San Francisco and also see some of Yosemite.

Thanks in advance

Thanks

As we'll be flying back Thursday afternoon and we want to spend at least a day in SF, how practical will it be due to drive:

LA to Monterey on Sunday

Monterey to Yosemite Valley on Monday

Yosemite Valley to SF on Tuesday

Thanks

"....how practical will it be due to drive...LA to Monterey on Sunday"...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Not very. LA to Monterey is a 7 hour drive WITHOUT stops. With so much to see/do en route, it will take up your whole day and then you won't have any time to see any part of Monterey before you're off for Yosemite.

You don't have enough time to do it all. Your plan, as is, only gives you one full day in SF.

What's more important to you? Seeing the coast or Yosemite?

If Yosemite, then drive up early Sunday and leave for SF late Monday afternoon so you can have 2 full days in the city.

If the coast, then drive as far as Cambria with a stop in Santa Barbara en route. Monday, leave Cambria early for the slow drive up through Big Sur, taking in the sights. Spend a few hours checking out Carmel and Monterey sights. Head to SF late Monday afternoon or early evening.
