Planning a trip to West Coast (with a wedding too!!) help!

Hi All...

My partner and I (from the UK) are planning to travel the west coast and hopefully get married whilst out there. I have done some research but could do with a lot of help!

Planned to depart October 23rd and have 3weeks with a very loose plan as follows...

Day 1 - Fly London to San Francisco Airport - where to stay?!

Day 2 - San Francisco (MUNI 3 day visitor passport for transport??) - site seeing

- Golden Gate Bridge

Day 3 - San Francisco - site seeing/shopping - Alcatraz

Day 4 - Pick up car, drive to Yosemite National Park (4hrs)

Day 5 - Yosemite NP

Day 6 - Yosemite NP

Day 7 - Drive to Carmel (4hrs) ??half day here then travel to Big Sur (30mins)

- or straight to big sur?

Day 8 - Big Sur, Pfeiffer State Park/beach. Evening meal at Nepenthe ??Need a second day here

Day 9 - Drive to Santa Barbara (4hrs) afternoon here/stay over?!

Day 10 - Drive to LA (1 1/2hrs)

Day 11 - LA - Venice Beach,

Day 12 - LA -

Day 13 - Drive to Las Vegas (5 1/2 hrs)

Day 14 - Vegas

Day 15 - Vegas

Day 16 - Drive to Grand Canyon (4 1/2 hrs)

Day 17 - Grand Canyon

Day 18 - Drive to San Diego (8 1/2hrs)

Day 19 - San Diego

Day 20 - San Diego

Day 21 - Fly home from San Diego to London

We'd look to get married in the first week as my parents will be with is for this part of the trip. I know we'd need to get the marriage licence and then an officiant to marry us and would like to do this on a low budget as there will be just the 4 of us.

Are we trying to do too much? If so where should we take days off/add. Should we miss off San Diego?

Any help or tips would be much appreciated!

Trip looks pretty good to me. Personally I'd stay Monterey for the night and explore Big Sur coast next day and spend the night at Moonstone Beach in Cambria (very romantic).

The drive between GC and San Diego is a long one. Love San Diego but also maybe check out Sedona www.visitsedona.com just 2 hours south of GC and another fantastic place.

If you decide to get married at the city hall in San Francisco, here is some information you might be interested on

For Yosemite, there is a chapel there and you can find out more at

There are other venues you could get married at but these are 2 of the popular places earlier on in your trip.

If it were me I'd research getting married in Monterey or Carmel - very scenic area though I've never been to any weddings there, but I would suggest looking into it and seeing what's possible.
