LA to Hearst Overnight

I'm planning to visit Hearst this June 5-6. Would you have any itinerary suggestions? What would be the best tour for Hearst? I'd also like to stop by Solvang too and drop by a nice beach, would half a day I Solvang suffice?

Thanks in advance!

Drive directly to San Simeon from WC and leave early in the morning.

Spend the night in Pismo Beach and hit Solvang on the way back to WC.

Half a day is fine, depending on what you want to see.

Do you mean July 5 & 6? If so, I hope you have a lodging reservation for the 5th locked down. The whole Central Coast is packed on the 4th of July weekend.

There are a few beaches you can access from Pismo Beach to Morro Bay to Cayucos. Solvang can be blown out in a few hours. There just isn't that much to it.

Definitely buy your tickets to Hearst Castle in advance. They sell out and showing up without them can mean you won't go, or you will wait around hours for a cancellation.

Thanks for the tips! Would the Elephant Seal Rookery and Piedras Blancas also Piedras Blancas be on the same location?

The elephant seal rookery is just south of the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse and approx. 4 miles north of Hearst Castle.

Appreciate the help. Would you know which among the tours is the best? Would it be the Grand Rooms tour?

Thanks!

By the way, if I don't take the tour, would I be able to see the Neptune Pool?

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

No. The "castle" is on top of a hill and the only way up there is on a bus with a tour group. Besides, I believe the Neptune pool has been drained of water due to drought (It takes a lot of water to keep a pool filled).

Lastly, would it be worthwhile and feasible to catch Monterey too?? Any good sights in Monterey?
