Best place to ski in Colorado

I am looking to book at trip out west and was wondering what mountain would be the best place to go. My boyfriend and I are both 27 and intermediate skiers. We like a good nightlife and aren't looking to spend a ton of money. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the places with a lot of nightlife, are also the most expensive. Aspen, Breckenridge and Vail are 3 of the most popular places with great nightlife and great skiing, but it's not cheap! Breckenridge would be the most affordable of the 3. You can stay in Frisco, which is just outside of Breck and is less expensive and then ski in Breck and go out in Breck.

Winter Park is also a fun place to ski. There's not a ton of nightlife, but there are decent bars to go to.

Start at http://www.coloradoski.com/Resorts/

Define "ton of money" and better info can be provided. Are you able to spend $200 per day on room and food (excluding lift tickets), $300, $400? All three resorts mentioned by previous poster has accomodations in a broad range of prices, but you do get what you pay for --location, room size, clean bathroom etc.

Which is more important, skiing, price or nightlife? Depending on your answer, it could be a number of resorts.

Here's where I used to ski (when I was a skier, knees are shot) Breckenridge, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, A Basin and Crested Butte!

Have fun planning.

On a budget..your best bet is to try and rent small condo. Save on meals and those terribly costly on mountain lunches by bringing your own. You can sometimes find good deals @ http://rockies.craigslist.org/vac/ some owners, some agencies. Typically owners offer better rates.

Also look at http://skicoupons.com/ for some slight discounts.

All the major resorts would be fine for you and your boyfriend. Nightlife Vail, Aspen maybe Steamboat.

In Summit County the resorts are all very close together, Cooper, Breckenridge, Keystone if you want to key more than one resort. The towns of Frisco, Dillon and Silverthorne are all central and offer better value. In Silverthorne I like that area of Wildernest the best though you would have to drive to dinner/bars. But if budget is the main concern Wildernest offers a very good value.
