HELP with flight to Snowmass/Marble/Carbondale area

My husband has a family emergency to attend to in the Marble area(well that is the city on the relative's mailing address). We've never been and if anyone is familiar with this area I need advice what airport to fly into( what is a close airport and/or best airport to fly into) and what area to find a hotel. We would be flying from Louisiana.

This is an unexpected trip and we just do not know the area. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

PS What is the difference between Snowmass and Snowmass Village?

You'll find the most reasonable rates if you fly in to Denver, but it will be a bit of a drive. Most of your connecting flights to the smaller regional airports will be through Denver, anyway, and depending on schedules, you might be able to land in Denver and drive to Marble in the amount of time it would take you to get a connecting flight, especially in the summertime. A flight in to Grand Junction would be the next largest airport and a very reasonable drive to Marble. Montrose also would give you an easy drive. The smaller regional airports would be Aspen and Eagle County.

Marble is a tiny town, but there is lodging available. Redstone would have a little more variety of lodging and is very close by. The next choice would be Carbondale, but I imagine you'll be able to find something in Marble or Redstone.

The drive from Denver Airport to Marble is about 4 hours. As missp pointed out, a connecting flight to Aspen or Eagle may waste about the same amount of time and can add significant cost to the trip.

Snowmass and Snowmass Village are essentially the same unless you are going to ski. It's a resort area outside of Aspen and about and hour and a half from Marble. Restone, Carbondale, Glenwood Springs and Basalt are all good areas to find a hotel.

You're quite welcome. I'm sorry your trip to Colorado is because of a family emergency, but at least you're coming to a very beautiful place! I hope you'll have a little time to enjoy the area, but even the drive to and from the airport will be lovely.
