Help! Burn ban in Estes..,where to go for the 4th of July?

What can you recommend for 4th of July? We will be staying in Estes Park. With the county being under a burn ban I assume there will be no fireworks due to the danger. We don't mind driving a couple of hours for 4th of July fun. Thanks so much! This forum had been so wonderful in helping me plan our family vacation! I am so grateful!

all the communities that have celebrations planned will hold them .. only wisely without fireworks . but there will be plenty of 4th of july fun. most of us find it great fun to not see our homes burn down :)

i can't think offhand of a place that will have fireworks .. denver perhaps?

I called the Estes Park Visitor Center and as of this afternoon there has been no official notice that the July 4th fireworks are canceled. That could change of course. Maybe one of our DEs knows who else to call...?

Dillon is having an airshow over the lake, Frisco a parade, I am sure there will be tons of great live music - it is a world record. www.Highestshowonearth.com

As for fireworks, IMO you will not find any in Colorado; however I am sure Estes will have a parade too and some fun activities.

You know I am probably wrong about the fireworks - I think Avon has not canceled their show. It just seems so crazy to me for anyone to have them this year, who knows!

The Estes Valley Fire Protection District gave the OK for July 4 fireworks at their last work session on June 13 because the show is over Lake Estes. As this article states, this decision could change depending on weather conditions.

Well, this link should work since the one above did not.

This link to a local news station lists July 4 activities including fireworks around the state. This may change and updates will be posted.

It's really going to be interesting - some people around here set off the illegal ones they bring in from WY - we'll see how the police/sheriff departments handle all of that. We've got some very dry vegetation around here - praying it doesn't all catch on fire due to someone feeling they have the "right" to celebrate.

More and more communities are canceling fireworks. Nederland and Black Hawk canceled theirs today. I, for one, am relieved.
