Just 1 1/2 days in Denver area.

We are in Vail for a meeting. This ends after our mountaintop dinner tonight.

Flying out of Denver sunday afternoon.

Trying to decide what to do -

Stay here and do drives near here ( where?).

Go up to boulder, Estes, rocky man national park for a visit. Do we have enough time? If even for a glimpse?

Someone mentioned visit to Colorado Springs area, boulders as well.

We hadn't planned anything as we didn't feel we had the time but now thinking maybe should have!

Or a brief visit to golden? And/ or Georgetown area?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I'd stay in the mountains. There are some fun events happening in Summit County. Tonight in Dillon is a free concert with Too Slim & The Traildraggers. Keystone is having the Wine and Jazz festival.

Dillon is just few miles from Keystone. I'd stay in Keystone. The Keystone Lodge and Spa is nice for a quick visit.

Or you could go directly to Keystone for Friday Afternoon Club m.keystoneresort.com/keystone-events.html you take the Gondola up for free music, buy beverages.

Oops missed that you have plans for tonight. In that case go Sat to the Wine Festival stay the night, leave for Denver in the morning. Brunch at Bistro Vendome in Larimer Square

Since you seem to want to see more of beautiful Colorado, you have time for one of several scenic drives. Yes, Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park is very doable. Add at least 2 hours to the driving time for the overlooks along Trail Ridge. This route goes over Berthoud Pass, Trail Ridge Road, part of the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway, through very pretty and colorful South St. Vrain Canyon and to Boulder. You can spend the night there or go on to Denver.

Another option is to take part of the Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway (highway 24) to Leadville and highway 91 back to I-70 and/or drive the Mount Evans Scenic Byway to the top (almost) of over 14,000 ft. Mount Evans. This can be a white knuckle drive the last 5 miles between Summit Lake and the summit. It is worth it.

As if you needed more options, here is another one which travels through Glenwood Canyon to Aspen then along the Top of the Rockies Scenic Byway over Independence Pass and back to I-70.
