Skiing April 23, 2007-April 28, 2007

I know this is probably REALLY late in the season, but it's only available time this year to Ski out West. Any recommendations on what may be open and best snow. We have 7 and 9 year old that are green and intermediate (NorthEast) skiers.

Thanks!!!!

Yes, it's really late - all the major Colorado resorts will have closed a weekend or two earlier than your trip. (This website has the current conditions and closing dates: http://www.coloradoski.com/snow/index.cfm?sort=9)

There are a few high altitude areas like Loveland and Arapahoe Basin still open, but snow conditions will be iffy and fewer runs open. Neither of these two have accommodations nearby - you'd have to stay elsewhere in Summit County and drive a ways to reach them. Not ideal conditions for beginner skiers.

There may be other resorts in Canada, California or Utah that routinely stay open this late. I think you should investigate other options than Colorado if you must ski then.

You might checkout http://www.coloradoski.com/

They have great info as well as links to the resorts. I have heard a few rumors that some of the resorts are already talking about extending their closing date, so who knows it could turn out to be a long season.

Loveland will be open as will A-Basin. Last year Loveland was 100% open on closing day. A-Basin will likely have most of the mountain still open at that time. Keystone will be the nearest lodging. Best thing is that Lodging will be as cheap as it gets. Check out http://denver.craigslist.org/vac/

for condos. You will find prices of 75.00 or less a night at that time.
