Veterans Day: Where to Go between Danbury and Hartford

Lady friends from NYC and Vermont want to meet somewhere between Danbury and Hartford for two days together. The NYers will come by train and the Vermonter will have a car. Any suggestions on best choice of town? They will spend most of their time reminiscing but would also appreciate good food, nice town to walk in, some shopping.

If you want to take Amtrak to Hartford and have the Vermonter pick you up there maybe West Hartford. Lots of good restaurants and shopping but not hotels- look in Farmington …hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml… or Simsbury.

If you want to stick to Metro North maybe Newtown or Woodbury.

Check Kent too ... I believe there is train and bus service to the area.
