Summer beach rental

My family and I are used to renting a beach house on the Jersey shore, but the inventory is not there this summer. We know nothing about CT beaches. We're coming from NYC, so anything on a train line is good (max 1.5 hours outside of city, please). Where is the best place to start looking? Any particular towns? We require: walking to beach (we have a toddler), walking to shops/ice cream and a monthly rental. THanks!

You would be better off looking in Rhode Island - other than the train line as their beaches are better and are more walkable to town (thinking specifically about Misquamicutt)

Westport may have something for you and definitely Fairfield Beach area.

As far as Walking to everything like a Boardwalk or such --there is nothing like that really here in Connecticut. Thats what made new jersey so beloved.

Amtrak does serve Westerly RI where Misquamicut is located. Atlantic Avenue is right on the beach, as in walk out your door to the ocean, however, it is only really "developed" at one end where you would be able to walk to amenities with a toddler.

I am not certain of the exact location of this rental but it looked like a good place to start

This one is not within walking distance of the beach

I believe this one is on the "pond" side of Atlantic Ave, however you may have to walk a bit to access the beach as there are only a few public access points on Atlantic Ave but it doesn't give exact location

This one looks like it may meet all of your needs

My parent live on Atlantic Avenue, it is a great low key place not over-developled. My kids love it there!

Good Luck

Misquamicut is a nice beach, good waves, in a fun area, Atlantic ave, there's also a "Water Whizz" water park there that kids enjoy. Westerly, Rhode Island is just over the Connecticut border.
