Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods?

I am curious to know which casino do you think is better? Here are the four categories: Quality of food, Number of Non-gambling Activities, Hotels, and Location. One more thing, I wrote a travel article and would love to get feedback as far as what I could do to improve it. Here it is: streetarticles.com/destination-tips/best-us-… . Thank you in advance

Quality of food: Mohegan. Even if they didn't have other great restaurants like Bar Americain, Tuscany, Hash House, they'd win just because they have Pepe's Pizza.

Number of non-gambling activities is a tie. Foxwoods has the Pequot Museum. Mohegan has more shopping and free concerts.

Hotel: Mohegan. I've heard some of the lower tier rooms are in need of a revamping, but I still prefer their rooms to the rooms at Foxwoods. The rooms at MGM are nicer than both.

Location: tie. Foxwoods is a bit easier to get to, but Mohegan is a nicer setting with the woods on one side and the Thames River on the other.

Frankly, I would make Pepe's Pizza a negative for Mohegan Sun.

Your article was good enough...Of course here you are not really dealing only with beginners to travel.

Beginners to travel could get a few ideas from your article.

The two casinos in Connecticut are different from many others.

Being located in the "woods" of Connecticut..makes them rather out of the way from other goings on . Many people do not realize that coming here IS getting away from busy places. Its quiet here--you can find things to do..but most are very low key. Certainly no to be compared to Atlantic City and Not at all to be compared to Las Vegas --which truly offers a thrill a minute.

Mohegan Sun is built in a sort of Tepee "round " floor plan. You can easily get around to most places by just following the hallway circling to the left or to the right.

Foxwoods is truly rather a hodge-podge of here and there.

Though I have found things of interest in both retail areas---I don't feel that either is really anything to brag about...compared to say Atlantic City--where within a short walk on the boardwalk are many shops and the Large Ship--turned into retail has many shops inside and eating places. Compared to VEGAS --they are in the negative for sure as there shopping choices are unlimited.

Most rooms in most hotels are only as good as the last remodel or renovation. When the rooms are over 8 or 10 years of age --they show it.This is true no matter what casino you go to.

If your a whale--your get the best room they have.

If you buy from a discount agency--you'll get a room they want to discount.

Pay rack or similar--you'll get the better room .

If the room quality is important --look for cost at rack or a little below. If you don't like what you get--complain to management and try to get a upgrade !

As posted the MGM---has very high standards here and in Vegas.

The Connecticut Coountry is really for relaxing and there are so many things to do here...but you'd have to understand country living. In the winter sking l sledding Ice Skating , Spring the tress and plants are beautiful to look at and hiking , fishing , boating , plants and garden abound.........................Summer , has all that and added fruit picking like strawberrys , blueberrys ,Asparagus all sorts of farm stuff abounds. Camping and the routes to Marthas Vineyard ,. Block Island and Nantucket Island are available as Day trips on ferrys. From Bridgeort a Ferry goes over the Long Island.

In Fall the autumn leaves are fascinating....of course the game is to catch them at their best.Nothinglike driving around little Connecticut Roads with the leaves flying under your wheels. Pumpkins , Apples ,Jelly , jams ,fresh Breads.wait for you.

Wine Trails , Massage , Little B&B where you can walk around the town on foot , or Larger more city like places are available . Balloon rides , horse drawn carriagesare too.

Mystic has an aquarium , and a full fledged Seaport --all about the Sea.

We have a train that brings you to the river...and there a riverboat for dinner ---or skip one and do the other.

Indian Powwows Firemen Musters , Music on Greens , Gathering of the Vibes .

Yale , Yale British Museum , Peabody Museum , Indian Museums.

Concert Halls , College Games , College Concert Halls ,Lacross games , field hockey , Minor League Baseball , Pro Boston Red Socks , Mets and Yankees within distance for day trips.

Little Italy !! (YUM !! )--In New Haven.

The things to do in Connecticut are many and varied.......One has to do their homework to find them out and arrange visit dates to be here when they re happening.

Yeah Frank PePe's is overrated. However, Mohegan Sun is a fun place to be. Thanks for responding and enjoy the rest of your day.

Thank you for responding Diva21. I actually visited the Pequot Museum...very nice. I chose the self-guided tour and it took six hours to see everything! Foxwoods is a nice place. I stayed at the Grand Pequot Hotel and the room was okay. The bathroom was spacious and the view was halfway decent (a bunch of trees). They hit the nail right on the head when they decided to name it FoxWOODS. I like the new bowling alley there very much. You can get lost (and I did twice) very easily in that place. I never stayed at Mohegan Sun yet. They do have more free concerts in the Wolf Den. I like the interior décor more than Foxwoods. I plan on staying at Mohegan sometime next month. Have a nice day.

Thanks for responding WANTTOTRAVEL. I agree, there is plenty to do in CT if you do the research. I also agree that CT does not compare to AC or Las Vegas. I actually stayed at the Grand Pequot Hotel when visited Foxwoods. It was an okay experience...the room was decent, but the view was well...they named it Foxwoods for a reason :-). Mohegan Sun is okay too even though I never stayed in the hotel yet. I might stay there sometime next month. As far as everything else goes, you pretty much said it all. The CT Science Center in Downtown Hartford is an interesting place to visit (If you love science or have kids that love science). Have a good day.
