Cape Canaveral Area Winter Weather/Camping

Would like to fly into Orlando rent RV & explore cape Canaveral area in Feb or early March. Couple questions

1. Is this area as crowded at that time of year as Miami/keys etc. suggestions for alternatives.

2. Camping suggestions for quiet/ish areas?

3. How is the weather that time of year?

Our main goals are to relax for a week in the warm weather, eat seafood, read books, go to a couple museums, walk on the beach.

Ideas? Suggestions?

All of Florida will be busy during those dates. Not as bad as Miami and the Keys but busy. Driving an RV even a smaller one will restrict you as far as where you go due to parking and space. I think I would rethink this plan or think it over carefully. The campgrounds here fill up quickly and in fact may already be booked. Don't mean to be a pessimistic person but we just don't have the wide open spaces that you do in Wy.

Jetty Park is very popular but is hard to get in to as they only take reservations (I think) at 45 days out and you have to call them on the 45th day prior as early as possible to get a spot at that time of year. The park is right at the jetty at the port and is perfect for fishing, watch cruise ships and close to several restaurants.

Other campgrounds in the area are further away across the causeway such as Manatee Hammock (on the river across from the space center) and is an older park, some full timers or the Great Outdoors (more of a snowbird park)

Florida is popular in winter months and parks do fill up quickly as Floridagal stated. I would book soon. Try using https://campgrounds.rvlife.com/regions/florida/cape-canaveral to find campgrounds and see reviews, etc. I would also look in Titusville or New Smyrna Beach.

Cape Canaveral is a small town and more of an extension of Cocoa Beach. The ONLY place to camp in Cape Canaveral with an RV is Jetty Park. It is a popular campground, so look now.

Meant to also say winter months can be anywhere from 80 in the day to 40's at night. Occasionally we get a freeze at the time of year. Early March can still be pretty chilly too. The further south you go the warmer the temps typically but also more crowded. Plan for layers and sometimes windy weather.

The city of Cape Canaveral is home to a booming cruise port, so has a lot of port-related traffic, much of it to and from Orlando (which is nearly the size of Denver and generates lots of weekend beach traffic).

It's dry season, so the weather is usually sunny with fluctuating temperatures. Frost is possible into early March, but temperatures below freezing are fairly unlikely in your time slot. Day temperatures in the 70 and 80s, usual. Thanks to low humidity, there can be substantial temperature swings from dawn to afternoon.

Water at the beach might be in the high 60s.

Public campgrounds will be busy at that time of year. The county government runs three; Long Point is in a quiet natural area at the beach. https://www.brevardfl.gov/ParksAndRecreation/Campgrounds
