Parasailing Fatality in Pompano Beach

Very sad as a woman lost her life, but I am reporting it here mainly because the Mayor of that town has come out with a warning that parasailing firms are not regulated as far as having their equipment safety checked - and it appears this happened because a harness broke

Something to keep in mind when planning your vacation activities.

May she rest in peace...

Sad indeed .... maybe some type of regulation will be put in place.

This happened in Clearwater about 12 years ago when I lived there. Sad that it happens when a visitor trusts a local company. This is an activity I personally would never do because of accidents such as this. The mayor has a good point but I wonder why the city doesn't regulate it themselves.

I would love to try parasailing but have never done so because of reasons like this. I have heard of people being ran into power lines and other horror stories. Its not different than a ride at a park, there should be some type of safety inspection required on a regular basis.
