Spending the winter in Florida

My husband and I would like to spend January and February in Florida, ideally on the west coast. We would want to bring our very well behaved dog. Ideally we would want a small house, 2 bed, with a small pool, either on an estate with good walks, or on a complex with some social ameneties. Does anyone know of any good agents, or where we might find something online? Many thanks.

Try some of the listings on VRBO.com They list by geographic region.

VRBO also list by pet friendly.

To choose an area, check the availability of dog parks and if dogs are allowed on beaches (some they are NOT).

Start in Venice maybe?

For prices, they will be lower on the mainland than on beach islands. Looks for up to 3 beds, as that is the size house that will likely have a private pool whereas many 2 beds would be shared pool.

Fort Myers Beach on the gulf coast is very dog friendly. They even have a dog beach where you dog can run free.

I would look at VRBO.com listings and find properties which appeal to you and are within your budget. They will list whether or not they are pet friendly (paw print). Then ck the areas to see if they look appealing to you. Once you have narrowed it down you can come back to TA for opinions. PLEASE verify ownership BEFORE SENDING ANY MONEY!!! VRBO is usually very good but a lot of Fraud is perpetrated by online scammers. Every County in Florida has online public records where you can verify ownership and ALSO be sure no liens are filed on a home. Otherwise, use a Local Property Management Company or Realtor for the areas you like.
