Red Algae or Red Tide in Anna Maria, St Pete or Clearwater?

We were planning a trip to Sanibel the week of July 4 but understand there is a very bad red algae problem right now. We are considering changing to Anna Maria Island, St Pete or Clearwater. Any problems with red algae or red tide?

Thanks!

Good idea to change your desitination. We just returned from Sanibel. Rented an ocean front condo and had red algae. Had to drive to a clean beach each day. Not all beaches there are affected. We were located on Middle Gulf Dr., went to West Gulf and beach was fine. But having to load everything up was a hassle! And we could not sit on lanai at end of day--- the smell was horrible! It was starting to clear off our beach the end of our week, but there was green burlap looking crap left over laying all over. I understand after reading their local paper that they are considering doing a clean up on the island.
