Where to go

We are travelling to Florida in January 2014 and wondered about a) the weather at that time of year and b) which area would be the best base on the gulf coast for two newly retired people who like busy days and quiet nights!!!!!

I would look at Siesta Key, Anna Maria Island, Sanible Island, and around those areas. You will be close enough to things to do and still in nice relaxing beautiful area.

We love Venice. It is a good location for travelling north and south along the coast and there are lots of things going on around the gulf coast. If you are thinking of renting a property(ie not going to hotel) try and get onto an active community so your can meet other people and join in the activities. There are some very good ones in Venice. Also you will find a lot of activities going on in some of the churches in this area and meet some lovely people.
