Looking to take a road trip - no idea what city to travel to

Myself and a few friends, all in our early twenties, are looking to take a spontaneous trip to Florida for Spring Break. We're planning on driving down near the end of February, and trying not to spend a huuge amount of money on lodging. We'd like to stay somewhere near the beach, but doesn't have to be directly on the beach. Since we're all 21 we'd like to go somewhere where we can have fun but also relax at times. If anyone has any advice as to what city to go to and where to stay, please let me know! Also, just because we're young doesn't mean we don't know when we're getting ripped off!!!

Sounds like you are wanting a more active beach area with a bit of nightlife, shops, and activities.

For the traditional, wild Spring Break party, Panama City Beach.

Daytona Beach on the Atlantic coast.

Clearwater Beach or Ft. Myers Beach on the gulf coast.

I would check with the hotels in the area you decide to visit to make sure they will allow 21 year olds to check in. Some places have a minimum 25 (at least one person in the group has to be 25). All will require a credit card to put on file and many put a charge of $50 incidentals fee or more on the card until after you have checked out which they then refund any unused portion. Mark got it pretty much correct altho the Panama City area will be the coldest of the 3 at that time of year. OTher cities are Ft. Lauderdale and South Beach which altho further south and warmer will be more of a drive as well as more expensive.

And check with advisor girl on the Miami beach forum. She knows of a few inexpensive places among the expensive. And the best pool parties.
