Best island to stay at off of the Georgia Coast

Hi,

Planning a family vacation in June to Georgia with my husband, two teenage boys and my mother-in-law. What is the best island to stay at off of the coast of Georgia? Would like to be near Savannah, and near plenty of shopping and activites i.e. jet ski rentals, boat rentals, dolphin tours, water parks etc.

Thanks!! :)

Tybee Island is very near Savannah and the other beach area that I like is a little further south just across the GA line in Amelia Island, Florida.

Well Tybee is certainly the closest to Savannah, it's a 20-25 minute drive. If you stay at Jekyll or St Simons it's more like an hour or more drive. Amelia Island in Florida is nice but it's over two hours from Savannah.

I would definitely consider going to Savannah and staying at Tybee Island which is small and kind of quiet compared to other islands in the area. I'm fond of Sea Island and St. Simon's Island also but I would prefer Tybee so you could visit Savannah, GA during the day a few times. Good luck.
