Beach Camping in GA?

Hello,

I am driving down to Orlando, FL this coming summer from NJ. Is there any beaches where one could drive their car on & set up a tent & stay the night? Figured it would be a nice break on the drive down to FL. anywhere in NC, SC, GA, or FL?

There are campgrounds near the beach but not ON the beach (that I know of).

Jekyll Island could be a great choice.

If you had extra time, Cumberland Island is incredible - but you have to take a ferry over.

Thanks ill look into those two, the Island sounds kind of cool. I saw someone post pictures on here of them camping on the beach & thought...oh that looks cool! wish I could remember who or where I saw those pics, lol, so i could ask them.

YEARS ago (as in decades) we camped in SC just on the other side of the dunes from the beach - as close as you could be without being ON the beach.

I think it was at Huntington Island.

Take a look -

But if you want a real beach/island experience, carve out the time to take the ferry to camp on Cumberland. You will not be disappointed.
