Spare a thought for our NZ friends. Christchurch has been hit with another huge earthquake (6.3), leaving 65 dead and hundreds missing. Water & power are all down and communications are running on battery. The terrible event unfolded today at lunchtime on a working day and many victims are trapped in the collapsed buildings. Aftershocks are hampering rescue work, with some up to 5.0
Emergency services are totally swamped and international aid is being rallied. There's a 70 man search & rescue team departing Australia tonight and another 30 should arrive early tomorrow to assist another 54 rescue workers already enroute from Auckland to assist exhausted local teams. It's an all-out race against time to find survivors.
Our hearts go out to our "Mates Across The Ditch" and as a Polynesian nation, I'm sure Hawaiians will feel the same. God speed the rescue workers in their unenviable task.
