Wailea Beach Marriott and prospect of whales

I have now booked Kauai and Oahu through a timeshare exchange. The problem is I really, really had my heart set on going to Maui to see the whales.

As of now we will be in Kauai Dec 7th-14th at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club and in Oahu Dec 14-21 at the Ko Olina Beach Club.

I am considering extending our trip to go to Maui Dec 21st through either the 24th or 25th. I know that's very busy season since it's right at Christmas time. We would use Marriott reward points and stay at the Waiohai Beach Club.

My question is: Is it worth it to extend our trip and use points to try to go to Maui for a few days? Is the Wailea Beach Resort worth spending points on? Will I see a lot of whales at that time to make it worth it?

Some more info: it would be just my husband and me traveling and we are both in our late twenties. We have been to Maui twice before and stayed at the Marriott Maui Beach Club both times: once in early December and once in September. In December we went at the very beginning of whale season and the crew was shocked at how many whales we saw. We've done the Road to Hana and Haleakala twice so there's not huge pressure to squeeze those in again. Our last trip to Hawaii we did 7 days in Maui, 5 days in Oahu, and 2.5 days in Kauai (because we'd never been and I was dying to go) and it was just way too much to do and we were completely exhausted. I am very concerned that trying 3 islands again is not a good idea.

Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!
